Bansalan Home

And they sang....

"Start spreading the news..." that our legs are heavy and we can barely kick.
Jean Metilla, our undiscoverd showgirl led the pack of wannabes.

"This is my life... and this is my house so I can sing on top of the table."
Jean, the entertainer, let it all out which drew a prolonged standing ovation from the crowd.

Jean with feelings as she serenaded the crowd with a cavalcade of songs. Notice how she has full-control of the microphone. "This mic is mine, God gave this mic to me". (The Exodus)

Jean's concert ended with an impromptu audience participation to a polka beat. Those German beers must be really potent. These shy and coy Bansalenas were transformed into a bunch of wild party animals.

So to say that the first European of Bansalenos was a success is an understatement.

Next time, they're actually inviting non-Europeans.
I hope they get the hint.

It wasn't all-party though. Back on their minds, they were still thinking about their beloved Bansalan. Here are some of the things they talked about as reported by Lalay Noel-Rispens.

There were some suggestions as follows:

1) We agreed in Europe that we contribute Euro 10/mo. (Euro 120 per year). Of course, others may give more but Euro 120 is the minimum. Jean will arrange opening a special bank account so we can remit our contributions through this account.

2) Meja Metilla shared her interest to initiate a botanical garden in the lot which Manong Mett is donating. She said we will try to plant indigenous plants and trees and since there are already many trees there, it will be easy to implement this project. On every plant and tree, we will place the common names and the scientific names. The botanical garden will be a great place for pupils and students to study plant species. Meja will be the focal person for this project and see to it that the discussion is alive.

3) Mely Metilla agreed to be the focal person for the future public library. She also plans to explore the possibilities of a twinning project which means to connect the town where she lives with Bansalan. This is an exciting project if materializes.

4) Gil Acaba is very keen about improving the Rizal Park. He agreed to be the focal person for this project.

5) Grand Reunion 2007 - There were some problems raised regarding the reunion. One is the date. Everybody in Germany could not make it on Dec. 27 since most of them are only flying to Manila on or after the 27th. Then it is already known that the reunion of Holy Cross is Dec. 28, UM 29, and Nazareth 30. Most of them would prefer to spend New Year with families. So the suggestion now is to hold the reunion on JANUARY 02!!!! Let's decide on this please.

6) It was also suggested that during the reunion, there will be a cultural program. Now, we need not to worry on this. The Metillas under the able leadership of Jean can well take care of this.

All the above projects received full support from those who are present, so we are presenting this to other ABW members. They will also support the Literacy Project.
